Classic style (or “Classicism”) originated in France in the XVII century. It is considered “Classic” because it is based on the style of a bygone era. However, as we know, fashion is fleeting, and the classic always remains in the trend! Therefore, apartment owners often use it for interior decoration.

This style is attractive, but complicated in execution. Deep knowledge of architectural styles, suitable premises and considerable expenses for interior design and furniture are needed. But if you create a design in this style, your house or apartment will become a model of heritage, bearing cultural value.

The main characteristics of the “Classic style”:

  • The spaciousness (reminds of antiquity): huge doorways, large windows in wooden frames, high (more than 3,5 meters) ceilings, columns and pilasters;
  • Finishing is made of natural, valuable wood;
  • Textile predominant decoration: tapestries, furniture upholstery, wall decorated with fabric, drape with satin;
  • A plentiful, but at the same time, unobtrusive addition of accessories made of crystal, porcelain and stucco;
  • The color palette includes gentle tones, for example, pearl or cream.

Link to history

For interior decoration in the style of “classic” you must choose items that have artistic or historical value. Accessories in this style can be a bit like palace or tribal relics and jewelry! Large carpets, fireplaces, candles, paintings will help decorate your home and create an atmosphere of coziness and comfort.

Who is an adherent of this style?

“Classicism” is suitable for generic homes, for families who seek to transfer their values and rules from generation to generation. Such houses and apartments will never depreciate, since the classics are timeless and always bear high cultural value. Your ancestors will be able to continue your traditions without changing anything in the design of the house.

“Nonclassical” classics

If you want to combine the aristocracy and the sublimity of the classics, but also the minimalism, conservatism and functionality of our days, then the Neo-Classic style is suitable for you. It implies flexibility in decoration and accessories, allowing you to combine the principles of classics with ultramodern technology.
